Well known for his ability to assist on the court, Mario Chalmers is expanding his assist off the court as well. That's why he did not hesitate to provide a donation to the Little Miracles Daycare Center in Vass, NC for the completion of the their third location.
For over 15 years, Little Miracles Daycare Center has provided before and after school care, summer camps and educational programs for the underprivileged rural communities of Vass and Carthage, North Carolina. The expansion into the town of Cameron, North Carolina has been a four year project that will now be complete in the Spring of 2013.
"Cameron is your traditional small town, but has experienced a tremendous amount of growth over the past five years," said Margaret Mosley, Daycare Director. "Young couples with small children and military families are making Cameron home and want quality, affordable childcare options," added Mosley.
Chalmers, who grew up in Anchorage, Alaska has a connection to the small town through his parents Ronnie and Almarie who grew up in the area. "As a kid, I remember visiting Cameron during our summer vacations. My Aunts, Uncles and cousins would gather over my grandparents house for family celebrations", said Chalmers. "When I learned that my Aunt and Uncle (Margaret and Alphonso Mosley, Jr.) wanted to expand their daycare to the area, I jumped at the opportunity to help".
